Genially adapts to
any methodology and strategy, promoting educational innovation. Students create
their own content, which enhances their creativity and helps them learn to
express themselves. All the pupils of a classroom in 6th Primary
have worked in this mini- project, which wanted to do some to relationated with
their ideas. They have
decided to do a organizer which helps them how they can organize the ideas
before to do a project. All the time I have tried to help them.
They did the project in their notebook and after with
the teacher´s computer they did this small project. Our school hasn´t got any
digital material for the students and a lots of them haven´t got any computer
in their home too. Then our time to practice or to do a project with the
computer is very very limited. It can be a easy work if you have good materials
in the school but it is not practice for our school which lacks of them. Other
point is that it can only be used if you have internet and my school we have
some weeks without internet in the month.
CHARLIE
AND CHOCOLATE FACTORY
I liked Lucía´activity
about Timetoast. I consider it to be a
motivating activity and that, in addition, it introduces reading comprehension.
I am going to do a Timetoast very similar. I am going to use this
digital tool to create a timeline of a book. The book is called 'Charlie and
the chocolate factory'. This book is all about
selfishness, competitiveness, or ambition. The sequence I am going to
follow is as follows:
Reviewing the vocabulary
relationed with the positive or negatives values that has been previously
worked on in class with different games, such as for example, scattered
telephone, the hidden word, butterfly catcher... in this way we start by
motivating the students at the beginning of the class.
We introduce the
main character, in this case Charlie and Willy Wonka. We can continue working
on vocabulary and grammar but now introducing this character, in this way we
introduce the book and at the same time motivate the students.
We show the
images of the story to the students. They should imagine what might happen in
the story and predict the events.
Now it is time
to read the story out loud. We do this slowly and at the same time ask
rhetorical questions to find out if the pupils understand the text.
Then they read
the text themselves individually. They underline words they do not understand.
In pairs they
solve the doubts or difficulties they have found in the text.
Finally, in
groups of four, they solve the doubts if any remain and begin to order the
events that occur in the story. First they will do this in a draft.
When they are
sure of their draft, they go to Google classroom to watch a video tutorial I
have created on how to use the Timetoast application. Then they create the
timeline with the Timetoast app. Finally, they send me the link by email.
I find that this activity is very complete since they
work on many aspects such as reading comprehension, interaction, digital
competence, group work, creativity...
Thanks to this course I have discovered the use of
this tool which I find very simple and useful to include in the teaching and learning
process with students, but all the schools must have some computers, projector,
internet,…. And the pupils must have a computer for themselves, but until now it is
impossible in my school.
